Hello Peaches! Today I am putting on my Hollywood glamour pants and turning up the sparkle. Recently, I found one of my original vintage beauties that I had stored away in the depths of my wardrobe and decided to take it for a spin. I have been working out and eating healthily since I became a new mum and absolutely loving checking out my old treasures again. I was delighted when I popped this one on and realised it now fits again!.
What better way to top true and original vintage with some stunning sparkle c/o Lovett & Co. As a regular reader of my blog you will know that I absolutely love any chance to get my glad rags on and when Lovett & Co sent me some stunning pieces to try I couldn’t resist getting all dolled up. I wore this dress to a recent private event I performed at along with these stunning diamante drop white opal earrings teamed with a crystal cluster bracelet in rosewater opal.
These 1950s earrings are so elegant and delicately provide that extra bit of sparkle that catches the light perfectly. They are lightweight when worn in your ear and I adore that they have a nod to the 50s Hollywood era. The cluster bracelet is equally as pretty and even though this is of a different opal colouring, it really blends well with the earrings and my outfit. One particular detail that stands out on the bracelet is the extra pearl and diamante detail on the end of the clasp – it really gives it a polished feel.
Lovett & Co have some absolutely stunning vintage inspired jewellery pieces as well as some equally devine wedding & bridal accessories too. Perfect for performing in or really ramping up your outfit with just the right amount of classy bling. Check them out here.
I like a bargain as much as the next vintage hunter but sometimes, if you can’t stop thinking about a piece of true original vintage then it most certainly belongs in your wardrobe. I originally found this silk vintage dress at Judy’s Vintage Fair in 2014 in Manchester. Unsure of the origin but it stated, “late 50s” on the label – the sellers best guess. This piece was a bit expensive but for just how devine the silk, the cut and the colour is (and the fact that I couldn’t stop thinking about it)– I can completely justify that. It was also “one of those you can’t stop thinking about” and remains exactly that each time I wear it.
Is it baby blue, is it dove grey or is it even silver – in different lights, this dress is all three. Made from a raw silk with a matching silk underskirt this dress was completely hidden on a clothing rail packed to the bursting with garments when I found it. I held it close hoping that nobody else had seen it while I checked it over for damage, faded patches and working zips. I was in love. I adore the cut out hem detail and of course the dramatic high neck and pussy bow. It has a slightly elasticated waist and a metal zip fastening to the back. I truly feel like Betty Draper from Mad Men each time I put this dress on and that feeling is completely priceless.
Judy’s Vintage Fair has a great selection of sellers who are normally at most of their events and of course bring with them high end vintage sourced from all over the world. They are definitely worth planning in your diary and travelling that little bit extra to visit. You can find all of Judy’s Vintage Fair dates & events here.
