Hello Peaches! Today I bring you this sensational party piece – a “little red dress” from the ever-marvelous Vivien of Holloway. That’s right – a little RED dress – because why wear black when you can sizzle and dazzle in a sassy red little number?! With the party season approaching, if you (like myself) are looking for some inspiration – this is the dress for you.
Vivien of Holloway has a unique way of hugging your curves and kissing them tenderly with a stunning range of dresses – the form fitting ones are definitely my all time favourite (read my review of their “Bombshell” dress & bolero set here) as I feel they pull you in, pull you up and help you “ooze glamour” effortlessly. If a dress makes you feel a million dollars, why wouldn’t you wear it every day?
With a dreamy sweetheart neckline, “cinch me in” waist and a soft sateen fabric, the Halter Neck Pencil Gingham Neck Red Dress is designed for ladies with killer curves. With a subtle boning and slight bullet bust, it really does form to your figure and I adore that no extra shape wear is needed underneath. This dress would last you all through the party season and right into next summer with the gorgeous gingham halter neck detail. Save it for next season and wear with basket bag and wedges. Alternatively you could wear with silver accessories or why not “tuck in” the gingham halter neck strap so that this becomes a strapless dress. The boning in the bust helps this to stay put giving you two dresses for the price of one! All you need is a white faux fur stole for the winter and you are the most luxurious lady in the room. I cannot wait to wear this around Christmas (as a strapless dress) with my silver heels and sparkly drop gem earrings.
They say when a lady wears red – she means business. Chris de Burgh (writer of Lady in Red) found her simply irresistible and now scientists also say that ladies who wear red appear more attractive. If you need an instant pick me up, it looks like a feisty red dress is the way to go. I only very occasionally wear black (simply a personal preference) but would reach for a LRD every time over a LBD.
I paired this delightful number with minimal accessories as I felt that the dress speaks for itself. My hairpiece was custom made from Rockabilly Red and is an autumnal piece that I received recently. My favourite cream Mary Jane shoes come from Office – they go with everything and I can actually dance all night in them! A classic black patent heel would look equally as fabulous with this dress (I have a pair in my wardrobe so this could be a future outfit!) and definitely also put together with a strappy silver heel and a pair of lace gloves.
We all know that with presents to buy and people to cook for, splurging on a new outfit can be a squeeze when the festive season is around the corner. With this dress being so utterly versatile, you can literally wear this both ways (both strapless and halterneck) – party in it all night at the Christmas party then store it away until Spring where you can sass about in it for many more months to come. If you invest in one dress for this jolly season – it should definitely be this beauty.
